സർക്കാർ നടപടി പരിഹാസ്യം:

സമരത്തെത്തുടർന്ന് ആശാപ്രവർത്തകർക്ക് അനുവദിച്ച 33 രൂപയുടെ വർദ്ധനവിനെ അദ്ദേഹം രൂക്ഷമായി വിമർശിച്ചു. ഇത് പരിഹാസ്യമായ വർദ്ധനവാണെന്നും, നിലവിൽ അവർക്ക് ഒരു ദിവസം ലഭിക്കുന്നത് 233 രൂപ മാത്രമാണെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടി. കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം സാമൂഹ്യ സുരക്ഷാ പെൻഷൻ 400 രൂപ വർദ്ധിപ്പിച്ചത് പോലും തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിന് തൊട്ടുമുമ്പുള്ള നാടകമാണെന്നും, അധികാരം കിട്ടിയ ശേഷം നാലര വർഷം ഒരു രൂപപോലും കൂട്ടാത്തവരാണ് ഈ പ്രഖ്യാപനങ്ങൾ നടത്തുന്നതെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം കുറ്റപ്പെടുത്തി.

2026-ൽ യു.ഡി.എഫ്. സർക്കാർ അധികാരത്തിൽ വരുമ്പോൾ, മിനിമം വേതനത്തിന്റെ നിലവാരത്തിലേക്ക് ആശാപ്രവർത്തകരുടെ വേതനം ഉയർത്താൻ വേണ്ടി പോരാടുമെന്ന് സതീശൻ ഉറപ്പുനൽകി. ആദ്യത്തെ ക്യാബിനറ്റ് യോഗത്തിൽ തന്നെ ആശാപ്രവർത്തകരുടെ ആവശ്യങ്ങളിൽ തീരുമാനമെടുക്കും എന്ന വാക്ക് അദ്ദേഹം മൂന്നാമത്തെ തവണ ആവർത്തിച്ചു. അധികാരത്തിൻ്റെ ദാർഷ്ട്യം കാണിച്ചവർക്കുള്ള തക്കതായ തിരിച്ചടിയായിരിക്കും വരാനിരിക്കുന്ന ദിവസങ്ങൾ എന്നും അദ്ദേഹം കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു.

The Leader of the Opposition (LoP), V.D. Satheesan, has guaranteed that if the UDF government comes to power, the demands of the ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers will be resolved in the very first Cabinet meeting. Speaking at the concluding event of the ASHA workers’ strike, he hailed the protest as a great victory of women’s power and noted its remarkable public support in recent times.

Criticism of Government’s Action:

He heavily criticized the state government’s decision to grant an increase of only ₹33 to the ASHA workers following the strike, calling the increment ‘ridiculous.’ He pointed out that their current daily wage is a meager ₹233. He also attacked the government’s recent increase of the social security pension by ₹400 as an ‘election-eve drama,’ noting that the current ruling front had failed to increase the pension even by a rupee for four and a half years after coming to power.

UDF Promise:

Satheesan pledged that when the UDF assumes power in 2026, they will fight to raise the ASHA workers’ wages to the minimum wage standard. He reiterated, for the third time, that a decision on their demands would be made in the first Cabinet meeting itself. He concluded that the coming days would serve as a fitting retribution for those who displayed arrogance of power.
