തിരുവനന്തപുരം നഗരസഭയുടെ ചരിത്രത്തിൽ പുതിയ അധ്യായം കുറിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ബിജെപി അധികാരം പിടിച്ചെടുത്തു. ബിജെപി ജില്ലാ പ്രസിഡന്റ് വി.വി. രാജേഷ് തിരുവനന്തപുരം കോർപ്പറേഷന്റെ പുതിയ മേയറായി സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞ ചെയ്ത് അധികാരമേറ്റു. നഗരസഭാ കൗൺസിൽ ഹാളിൽ നടന്ന ചടങ്ങിൽ വരണാധികാരി മുൻപാകെ ഈശ്വരനാമത്തിലാണ് അദ്ദേഹം സത്യവാചകം ചൊല്ലിയത്.

അധികാരമേറ്റ ശേഷം കൗൺസിലിനെ അഭിസംബോധന ചെയ്ത വി.വി. രാജേഷ്, നഗരത്തിന്റെ സമഗ്ര വികസനത്തിനായി എല്ലാവരെയും ഒന്നിച്ച് ചേർത്ത് മുന്നോട്ട് പോകുമെന്ന് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു. നൂറ് വാർഡുകളെയും ഒരുപോലെ കണ്ട്, രാഷ്ട്രീയ വ്യത്യാസങ്ങൾക്കതീതമായി വികസനം എത്തിക്കുകയാണ് തന്റെ ലക്ഷ്യമെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. അടുത്ത അഞ്ച് വർഷത്തിനുള്ളിൽ ഇന്ത്യയിലെ മികച്ച മൂന്ന് നഗരങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നായി തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തെ മാറ്റുമെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു.

ചടങ്ങിൽ എൽഡിഎഫ് പ്രതിനിധി ദീപകും യുഡിഎഫ് പ്രതിനിധിയായി മുൻ എംഎൽഎ കെ.എസ്. ശബരീനാഥനും സംസാരിച്ചു. പുതിയ മേയർക്ക് ആശംസകൾ നേർന്ന പ്രതിപക്ഷം, നഗര വികസനത്തിന് പിന്തുണ വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്തു. അതേസമയം ഭരണപരമായ വീഴ്ചകൾ ഉണ്ടായാൽ ക്രിയാത്മകമായ പ്രതിപക്ഷമായി ശക്തമായി ഇടപെടുമെന്നും അവർ വ്യക്തമാക്കി.

Marking a historic shift in the administration of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, the BJP has officially taken charge. Senior leader and BJP District President V.V. Rajesh was sworn in as the new Mayor of the capital city. He took the oath of office in the name of God during the ceremony held at the Corporation Council Hall.

In his inaugural address, Mayor V.V. Rajesh emphasized a collaborative approach to the city’s growth. He stated that his administration would treat all 100 wards equally, transcending political barriers to ensure inclusive development. He shared his vision of transforming Thiruvananthapuram into one of the top three developed cities in India within his five-year tenure.

Opposition leaders, including Deepak representing the LDF and former MLA K.S. Sabarinadhan representing the UDF, offered their congratulations at the event. While they pledged support for the city’s developmental initiatives, they also maintained that they would function as a vigilant and constructive opposition to hold the administration accountable.
