Following a recent electoral victory, Leader of the Opposition V. D. Satheesan extended special thanks to the people of Kottayam district. He declared that the UDF (United Democratic Front) is no longer just a coalition of a few political parties, but is transforming into a broad ‘Political Platform’ that will give new dimensions to coalition politics. Satheesan affirmed that the UDF will approach the next Assembly election with greater strength.

The Great Victory in Kottayam: Special Gratitude to the People

V. D. Satheesan underlined the significant role played by Kottayam district in the recent political success. Referring to his conversation with senior leader Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, he stated, “Kottayam is one district where a great political victory has occurred. This decisive victory in Kottayam comes despite previous assessments that the departure of the Kerala Congress (M) had caused a loss for the UDF.

• Beyond Calculations: He noted that the inability of many to grasp the nature of this Political Platform is why their calculations often fail (e.g., 2+2 does not equal 4).

On Future Allies and the Assembly Election

When asked about inviting the Jose K. Mani faction back into the fold, V. D. Satheesan provided a clear response.

• No Invitation: He stated, “We have not run after, invited, or held discussions with anyone.”

• Expansion Hint: Regarding front expansion, which all constituent parties have requested, he hinted it could happen in various ways. “That may include constituent parties from the LDF, or constituent parties from the NDA, or many people from the general public who do not belong to either,” he indicated.

• Next Goal: He made it clear that achieving the desired number of seats in the next Assembly election will require double the hard work than was needed for the recent victory, and the UDF is preparing for that challenge.
